A meeting of the central secretariat chaired by convener of the new party Nirmal Bhattarai on Sunday decided to form a team led by himself for talks with other parties.
The team includes Hariram Rimal, Munindra Basnet, Chandra Dev Ojha, Ashok Raj Dhungel, Krishna Bhattarai, Ram Raj Magarati, Madhav Ghimire and Suraj
Dhoj Thapa.
The meeting also selected Hariram Rimal as the party’s spokesperson and divided responsibility between the leaders.
As per the decision, Ashok Raj Dhungel has been deputed to oversee the group’s matters in the Kathmandu valley, Munindra Basnet to Province 1, Aditya Jha to Province 2, Krishna Bhattarai and Umesh Khanal to Province 3, Chandra Dev Ojha to Province 4, Madhav Ghimire and Om Prakash Gupta to Province 5, Harilal Sharma to Province 6 and Mohan Bam to Province 7.
Leaders Suraj Thapa and Milan Bohara would look after the youth affairs, Ramesh Bhandari would head the student wing, Bimal Aryal would guide the women’s wing, Ramraj Magarati would lead disadvantaged groups while Dipesh Neupane, KP Gupta and Padam Adhikari would oversee the party’s matters related to foreign relations. Suraj Dhoj Thapa would look after the Valley Coordination Department.
Rimal said the party held talks with the UML because they got prompt response from the second largest party but matters had not been finalised yet. They were also negotiating with other forces, he added.
The meeting demanded the government create an environment conducive to holding the local-level elections. It also asked for speedy completion of the ongoing road expansion projects as the delays had exacerbated pollution.
