In a statement on Wednesday, the EC expressed its displeasure over the remarks of RPP Chairman and Deputy Prime Minister Kamal Thapa and the party’s activities.
The statement comes a day after the RPP burned the copies of EC’s decision.
“The EC has been saddened by the RPP’s move to burn the copies of the election body’s decision,” the statement read.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the activities of RPP—a senior member of the Cabinet, the EC also warned the party not to repeat such deeds in the future.
Last month, the EC had decided to remove the portion from the RPP statute that advocates Hindu state and monarchy claiming that the section contradicted constitutional provisions of republican order and secularism.
