In a statement on Sunday, the party said that Yadav would contest the elections as an independent candidate as the party had missed the deadline to register with the Election Commission. Yadav is a central member of the party.
Earlier on April 14, the party led by journalist-turned politician Rabindra Mishra decided to field former secretary Kishor Thapa in the race for mayor of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City. Thapa is a central member of the party.
According to the statement, the party has viewed the 39-year-old leader Yadav’s candidacy as a new dimension that will emotionally bind Kathmandu with Tarai.
“Born in Saptari, raised in Banke and martially linked to Morang, and a current resident of Kathmandu Metropolitan City ward-14, Yadav has been working as an advocate for the past 15 years,” the statement read.
She had served as a member of high level monitoring committee of peace agreement, a member of reconciliation council, an expert on social inclusion, a rights activist and legal advisors to various organisations.
Saying that the post of deputy mayor is appropriate for her given the constitutional provision to form judicial committee under deputy mayor for resolving the disputes under the jurisdiction of metropolitan city, Yadav said that she is excited about her candidacy as an experienced and capable person has filed candidacy in the race of for Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City.
