Doctor Samir’s quake memoir hits shelves
Author and doctor Rabindra Samir launched his new book, Bhukampa ma Maalham Patti, recently to mark the two-year anniversary of the 2015 earthquake. Bhukampa ma Maalham Patti is based on Samir’s personal experience as medical doctor serving as a first responder in the immediate aftermath of the earthquake. Samir who attended to more than 9000 patients in 10 earthquake-affected districts has crafted a narrative that includes stories about the quake that he heard on the treatment table and through anecdotes from family members.
Speaking about the book, comedian Hari Bansha Acharya said, “The book is a reflection of the anguish and pain of earthquake victim, as well as the story of a person who went above his line of duty to help those affected.”
Similarly, speaking to the Post, author Samir said, “The book contains stories of sufferings of people during the earthquake. I think it will be helpful for people to understand how to properly help others during disaster and also to understand the effects, mental and physical, of the earthquake.”
Samir’s previously published works include Tesro Aakhe, Post Mortem, and Bikiran, among others.
