UML cadre killed in clash with Maoist Centre

Thirty-three-year-old UML cadre, Kul Bahadur Tamang, was killed in the clash that took place at Jungu Dahabari area. Tamang is a local from Huppa village.
Another UML cadre, Dil Bahadur Buthathoki, from Gaurishankar Village Council – 2, has been seriously injured. Buthathoki, who is a teacher at the Nil Kantheshwor Higher Secondary School, was brought to Kathmandu for further treatment.
CPN (Maoist Centre) ward chair candidate, Bharat Khadka, also sustained injuries in the clash.
The clash reportedly broke out after stones were pelted on a group of Maoist Centre cadres and leaders led by former State Minister and Maoist Politburo member, Devi Khadka, who arrived in the village for electioneering. The clash broke out at 9:30 pm.
A complaint has been filed with the police over a group named 'Tiger Group', which is accused of intimidating local voters, political party cadres and obstructing the election publicity campaigns in Jungu.
The deadly clash broke out between Maoist Centre and UML cadres as the police were making preparations to take action against the Group.
Tamang, who was killed in the clash, is learnt to be affiliated with the 'Tiger Group'. Meanwhile, CPN-UML leaders in Dolakha have accused the Maoist of attacking their cadres and taking a life.
The local administration has mobilised a high number of police personnel in Jungu where the voters are in a grip of fear following the bloody clash. RSS
