Bomb explodes near polling centre in Jumla

A bomb exploded at a polling centre near Bhairab Secondary School in Sinja Village Council-2 of Jumla district on Friday night.

According to DSP Guru Bishnu Kafle of the District Police Office, Jumla, security has been tightened in the area following the incident.

Police said that they are searching for the miscreants involved in planting the bombs.

DSP Kafle said that the security has been beefed up for the voters to cast their votes in a fearless atmosphere.

Civil servants deployed in the polling stations and voters have been left panic stricken following the explosion.

According to the District Administration Office, 87 polling stations in the district have been kept under the most sensitive category.


The administration has adopted a high alert saying that Nepal Communist Party, which has been protesting the local level elections, could carry out activities to foil the polls.

Chief District Officer Narayan Sapkota informed that more than 2,000 security personnel have been deployed in the district alone.
