After parties opposed the polling officers for using marker signs the counting of Nashong rural municipality of Manang district has been stalled.
According to UML's candidate of Chief of the Nashong rural municipality that lies at the lower belt of Manang, Man Bahadur Gurung, the problem arose while counting the votes of ward number 7 as the polling officers had used marker to cut the symbols of the candidates of the ward.
Election officer Gopal Sharma said they had used the marker as per the election directives but the parties have claimed that the decision should have be made only through all-party meeting.
He said the symbols of ward candidates were cut using marker to ensure that the votes won't be cancelled.
"We discussed with the candidates for several rounds but to no avail. Now we would begin to count," Sharma said over telephone from Nashong.
All the candidates for ward 7 chairperson and members were unanimously elected earlier from Nepali Congress.
Counting of all the wards upto ward number 6 of total 9 wards were already counted.
