“I am delighted to have had the privilege of performing the first solo performance in my life,” Bidhan said, speaking about his performance at the popular musical series, which took place on Friday.
Bidhan kicked off his performance with Soltini Bhani Bolaako, which was first performed by Hong Kong-based Sangam band. The song followed a flurry of performances, renditions of pop hits such as Jaadaichhu Taadha, Jalan Chhati Ko, Chhadi Jane Mayalu Lai, Kanchhi ko Allare Jiwan.
Speaking about the genesis of Kanchhi ko Allare Jiwan, Bidhan said, “When I was still a child, a musical group from Darjeeling visited our family and during their stay, I learned the song from them and later I produced my own version of it.”
Besides, Bidhan also performed songs by other artists as well—Ma Pattharko Devta Hoina, by his own father Bijaya Shrestha and Narayan Gopal’s Mera Sabai Raat Aba Maatharu Bhaye, among others.
Bidhan concluded his performance with two back-to-back renditions of Ekata Nai Bal Ho.
Speaking after the performance Paleti’s presenter Aavaas said, “Starting back in 2005, Paleti has so far featured about 40 artists. Bidhan’s performance marks the start of new era of Paleti, where we will aim to feature more of artists from the new generation.”
