Police on Friday arrested fourteen leaders of agitating Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal (RJP-N) who were on their way to padlock the Election Office in Biratnagar as part of its protest programmes.
Central Secretary of RJP-N, Jagdish Adhikari, central members Chandra Prasad Rajbanshi, Rajeev KC, district coordinator Mo Kadir, chairmen duo Radhe Kamat and Ramananda Sah, district member Muni Karna, BP Mandal, Bijaya Das, Dana Devi Mandal, Nilam Devi Yadav, Sharadnanda Das have been arrested. They have been detained at Ward Police Office.
Following the arrest, leaders and cadres of RJP-N have been making preparations to lunch protests to press for deferring elections in all three plain districts of Province 1—Sunsari, Morang and Jhapa.
RJP central member Bhogendra Yadav said his party has been endeavouring to postpone elections in all three Tarai district of Province-1. He said the party’s centre has directed to intensify protest in Province-1.
