The border point at Banke district on the Nepal-India border will be closed for 48 hours in view of the June 28 election, authorities confirmed. 

The second phase of local level election is taking place in 35 districts across province no 1, 5 and 7 for the 334 local units. 

The checkpoint will be closed from morning on June 26, 24 hours before the commencement of the election, according to Chief District Officer (CDO) at Banke district, Rabi Lal Panth. 

The meeting of the border security personnel of the both countries recently took the decision to this effect, shared CDO Panth, ensuring of effective internal security mechanism in the district for the voters to cast their ballot without any fear. 

Furthermore, the meeting also agreed to beef up security checks along the border points before 48 hours of the elections. 

"For the election to be conducted in a free, fair and peaceful manner, security forces have been deployed adequately," asserted the CDO. 

According to him, Armed Police Force's personnel were mobilided across 40 places while Nepal Army personnel across 15 places in the district. 

Under the security management, the security personnel of the both countries are currently patrolling the bordering places while security has been tightened in the district. RSS
