Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal (RJP-N) on Friday announced to withdraw its support to the government.
RJP-N leader Hridayesh Tripathi called a press meet in Belatari of Nawalparasi today and announced the party’s decision to withdraw support from the government saying that the latter has stoked conflict by deploying army in Madhes.
Tripathi said the party’s withdrawal from the government is under process and it would take few more days until they finally pull off their support to the government.
Tripathi made it clear that his party’s objective is to alienate and topple the government. However, he did not clearly mentioned if the party was planning to disengage its support to the government before or after the second phase local polls slated for June 28.
Tripathi accused the government of mobilising army in Tarai districts under the pretext of local polls. He said the international community has been closely observing election in Nepal and if the elections were held forcefully under army’s strength, the international community would not acknowledge such election.
Tripathi revealed RJP-N’s plan against the election that they would peacefully appeal Tarai folks to not participate in the polls. He also said the party would organise ‘peaceful protest’ on the election day.
