During an interaction organised by Press Chautari Nepal at party office on Monday, Chairman Oli said it is the equal responsibility of government, political parties and others to hold the election in a democratic manner. Peaceful atmosphere must be ensured for it, he added.
The country is holding the local level election for the second round in province no 1, 5, and 7 on June 28.
"Government must not misuse the power to panic and lure people creating unhealthy election competition," he said, adding that Election Commission too must not limit itself in printing and distributing ballot papers but play significant role in holding elections fairly.
He, however, said his party would cooperate well with the Election Commission in holding the election successfully, because election is the foundation of democracy.
Chairman Oli further said the UML would not want any favour from the election officers, employees and security persons mobilized for the election.
Moreover, Chairman Oli wondered why some ambassadors working abroad work as some party's cadres rather than engaging in expanding country's diplomatic relations.
According to him, it was positive that the Rastriya Janata Party Nepal had independent candidates fighting in the election though it has not formally involved in the second round of election.
The Chairman reiterated his stand that it would not be acceptable to his party if the constitution was amended by tarnishing the nationality.
Expressing concern over violation of election code in Dharan, Butwal, Dadeldhura and others, tearing of ballot papers and murder of his party cadre Kul Bahadur Tamang, he urged all sides concerned not to repeat such. RSS
