Japan to provide grant assistance of Rs 257 million

The project aims to enhance the capacity of officials of the Government of Nepal by providing scholarship to pursue the five year's master's degree programme in various Japanese Universities.
Shanta Raj Subedi, Secretary of the Ministry of Finance of the Government of Nepal and Masashi Ogawa, Japanese Ambassador to Nepal signed the exchange of notes on behalf of their respective governments amid a programme in the Ministry of Finance on Friday.
The grant will be utilised for covering the scholarship, airfares and other relevant expenses for the study, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Finance of the Government of Nepal.
The scholarship covers a wide range of disciplines in social science such as economic policy, international relation, industrial development policy and legal and judicial system.
The Project will be implemented by the Ministry of Finance of the Government of Nepal in coordination with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Japan International Cooperation Center (JICE) and other agencies or stakeholders.
Under this programme, 20 government officials will be selected for scholarship every year beginning from 2016 to various Japanese universities to pursue various subjects of the degree.
Meanwhile, the government of Nepal thanked the Government of Japan for contributing to the socio-economic development of Nepal through the grant. RSS
