Scholarship announced in Nilu’s memory

An educational scholarship has been announced in the memory of director Nilu Dolma Sherpa, who passed away last week due to cardiac arrest. 

The scholarship was announced following an arrangement made by Sherpa’s family and Oscar International College of Film Studies, under which three deserving students will receive the scholarship scheme. 

According to the agreement, which prioritises female and third gender students, the three students will receive one lakh each as part of the scholarships. 

The scholarships will come into effect starting this session, slated to start this month. 

Meanwhile, six students—Asin Poudel, Maniraj Poudel, Bijay Upreti, Sajal Lopchan, Divas Amgain and Jason Lopchan—from Oscar International College are slated to take part in the fifth iteration of the International Short-Film fest, to be held in Bangkok, on July 19-28. The winning entry of the fest will receive a cash purse of 30,000 Thai Bhat, it was announced at the same event.
