The album, titled What to do Kathmandu?, comprises of seven songs, based on the band’s signature folk-hard-rock orientations, informed Neran Shahi, the band’s vocalist.
Anuprastha broke into fame with their participation in the television reality show Sprite Band Challenge, in the year 2008, which they went on to win. Their first album, the self-titled Anuprastha, comprising songs such as Din, Guff, Sukha ra Dukha, was released in the year 2010.
“When we took part in the competition [Sprite Band Challenge], we were still very young, exploring our musical tastes. Still, we were already serious about music. The win helped us find some confidence. Our first album released two years later and it was well-liked,” said Shahi. “We have been in the scene for quite some time now, and have been performing concerts and closed-door shows.”
Speaking about the new album, Shahi said, “The songs in the new album revolve around the essence of the city of Kathmandu. We have incorporated into our lyrics what a common man sees when they wander around the city.”
The band recently toured across Nepal, in cities like Narayangarh, Butwal, Bhairahawa, Pokhara, Itahari, Dharan, Damak and Kathmandu, promoting the band’s new release. The tour, organised by Bandwagon by Positive Vibes, drew to a close in Damak on July 29.
The band’s title song What to do Kathmandu? is available on Youtube. The rest of the songs, however, are soon to come out in audio and video in the coming days. The album is brought out by Music Nepal label.
