Maniman Chantyal, 65, his wife Nandakali, 63, daughter Gita, 18, and daughter-in-law Bindu, 22, were killed after the landslide swept away their house at Nisikhola on Friday.
Maniman’s body was retrieved from the landslide this morning while the bodies of others were found after removing the landslide debris by police and local this afternoon.
Likewise, Om Prakash Kami, 53, of Dhorpatan was killed after a landslide buried him.
Police said that Khagisara Sinjali Magar of Huldi, Nisikhola-1 is missing after was buried in the landslide.
Despite the risks of occurring landslides, a rescue team deployed from the Dhorpatan Police Post retrieved the body from the debris, Assistant Sub-Inspector Narayan Sharma said.
The bodies have been kept at the Burtiwang Hospital for post-mortem.
A pall of gloom has descended Huldigaun after the landslide killed four members of a family, local Sahabir Magar said.
“I do not want to stay in the village after the landslide killed four members of a neighbour,” he said, adding, “We have been staying in terror and our children are afraid to go inside the house.”
He said that the villagers have moved to a jungle above the village by salvaging their clothes and utensils.
