As Dr Govinda KC’s fast-unto-death enters 18^th day on Thursday, his health condition has deteriorated. Health Secretary Kiran Regmi has said that if his hunger strike continues, Dr KC could be physically unwell.

Regmi summoned Trubhuvan University Teaching Hospital Director today and took stock of Dr KC’s health condition.

“We studied a report on Dr KC’s health today,” said Regmi while addressing a meeting of Women, Children, Senior Citizen and Social Welfare Committee today. “We got worried after looking at the report. The heartbeat is abnormal and problems are seen in his kidney.”

“Anything can happen to Dr KC at anytime,” said Regmi.

Regmi briefed the committee that senior orthopedic surgeon has been denying food although it is crucial to feed him to administer antibiotics. She underlined on taking initiatives to save the life of Dr KC.

Dr KC has been staging fast-unto-death for the past 18 days demanding reforms in the country’s health sector and medical education. This is his 11^th hunger strike seeking end to anomalies in the sector.
