The outcome will only decide the winners and runners-up in the pool having already secured their places in the semi-finals. Nepal defeated Maldives 6-0 and India eased past the same opponents 9-0. While Nepal need an outright win to top the pool, a draw will suffice India to take the pole position.
“We know they (India) are tough opponents but we will still go for victory and will give our best,” Nepal coach Sunil Shrestha said. Nepal will be without Roshan Dong as the defender was red-carded against Maldives.
“He will surely be missed but we have an ideal replacement for him,” said Shrestha, who refuted the allegations that the home team was defensively weak against Maldives. “As our plan was to play attacking football against Maldives, we gave emphasis on scoring. But we will have different strategy against India.” (PR)
