According to Narayangadh-Muglin road project engineer Shiva Khanal, a 50 metre road section caved in along the bank of Trishuli River at Charkilo following incessant rains. Four metre of the nine metre wide road gave way due to a landslip.
Engineer Khanal further said that resumption of vehicular movement by operating a one-way traffic seems highly unlikely as the landslide swept away almost half of the road's width and 7 meter road is needed for a single vehicle to ply.
Efforts are underway to resume vehicular movement, it is learnt.
The 36-km Muglin-Narayangadh road section is a major route connecting Kathmandu with the Tarai region and it has been blocked several times this season due to ongoing road widening project.
