The deceased have been identified as Sandhya Prajapati, 12, a student of Unique Boarding School, and Munilal Kahar, 14, a student of Ram Naresh Higher Secondary School. Both of them are the resident of Rohini-2. The students were returning home from school when the accident happened.
Nitesh Chaudhary, 10, of Rohini-3 was injured in the incident. He is receiving medical attention at Crimson Hospital in Manigram of Rupandehi, Inspector Dakshya Basnet of District Traffice Police Office said.
Police said the truck (Lu 1 Kha 9351) heading for Parasi from Bhairahawa hit the students at around 4 pm today.
Following the incident, irate locals obstructed the Bhairahawa-Parasi road section from 5 pm today.
Relatives of the deceased have refused to pick the bodies.
A police team deployed from District Police Office, Bhairahawa, has been deployed at the incident site to take the situation under control.
Police said that they have impounded the truck and arrested its driver for investigation.
