CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli has said that it was nonsensical to say that the majority government of left alliance would bring authoritarianism in the country.
Oli, who arrived in district headquarters Phungling on Sunday for election campaign, questioned how the forces that fought for democracy could bring authoritarianism in the country.
Rebuffing the rumours that accuse the left alliance of CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Centre) of trying to approach towards authoritarian system, Oli asked: “How can we bring the authoritarianism when we were the one who fought against such regime?”
Oli claimed that the left alliance will take the helm of government after upcoming federal and provincial elections, as he went on to say that he will ensure development in the country and send a message to the world that Nepal is not only an exporter of migrant workers and producer of unskilled labour.
Oli urged UML cadres to vote for Maoist party without any prejudice saying the UML and Maoist Centre will unite after the elections. He urged UML cadres to vote Maoist Centre candidate Tanka Angwohang in provincial assembly elections.
“Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal was ready to contest in polls with UML election symbol ‘sun’, however, he could not do so due to other leaders of the Maoist party,” said Chairman Oli.
It is learnt that Dahal was scheduled to join the election campaign with Oli, however, he could not make it to the programme.
UML Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai, who is contesting for federal parliament seat from Taplejung, rebuffed rumours that India would again levy another blockade if the left alliance wins the upcoming elections.
“Oppositions have spread rumours that India would impose blockade halting our exports to India. But I urge everyone not to go after such rumours,” said Bhattarai, adding that his party would ensure unhindered border activities both with northern and southern neighbours of Nepal.
