A pressure cooker bomb went off at an election contact office of CPN (Maoist Centre) located in Mirchaiya-5 of Siraha district on Friday.
Police said the explosive-laden pressure cooker exploded at around 3:45pm at the building where Maoist Centre had opened an office for election campaigns. No damage has been reported in the explosion.
The office belonged to left alliance candidate Ajay Shankar Nayak who is contesting in elections from Siraha, constituency 4. Nayak is a former law minister.
A 1.5 litre pressure cooker was used for the explosion. The incident site lies some 200 metres west of Mirchaiya Police Office. Police reached the site after hearing loud explosion.
Pamphlets belonging to Jaya Krishna Goit-led Akhil Tarai Mukti Morcha were recovered from the incident site, police said.
DSP Gajursiddhi Bajracharya said that police are investigating the matter.
