Chand-led Maoist cadres abduct ward chairman in Jajarkot

Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) on Friday abducted Gopal Bahadur Nepali, Chairman of ward no. 1 in Kushe Rural Municipality, Jajarkot district.

Nepali’s brother Pramod told police that a group of six to seven cadres of CPN kidnapped his brother from near the ward office last night. According to Pramod, Chairman Gopal Bahadur was discussing election preparations when the CPN cadres kidnapped him.

CPN district in-charge Hari Chandra Jaisi has claimed responsibility for the kidnapping. Jaisi said that Gopal Bahadur was kidnapped to foil the elections.

The federal parliamentary and provincial assembly elections are scheduled for November 26 and December 7.

Nepali was elected ward chairman in the recently conducted local level elections. He was the candidate from CPN-UML.

DSP Bhawesh Rimal said that Nepal Army and Nepal Police are looking for Nepali.
