The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday refused to issue an interim order on the writ petition filed by Yadav challenging the Election Commission (EC)’s decision to revoke his candidacy.
In response to Yadav’s writ petition, a division bench of Justices Deepak Raj Joshi, and Dambar Bahadur Joshi today concluded that the writ petition didn’t require an interim order.
The EC had annulled Yadav’s candidacy citing that the court had found him guilty of corruption for misusing diplomatic passport.
Yadav had filed a writ petition at the SC on November 28, three days after the EC decided to revoke his candidacy. The Supreme Court on Tuesday had issued a show cause notice to the election body for annulling Yadav’s candidacy.
A complaint was registered against Yadav, a member of the first Constituent Assembly, by independent candidate Ganesh Kumar Singh of the same constituency in the district and another complaint was registered by independent candidate Anil Kumar Singh at the EC.
