The left alliance and the Nepali Congress until Saturday evening had won four constituencies each, with counting in Kathmandu-5 and Kathmandu-7 yet to be completed. Results there also are expected soon.
“We have made a public appeal to all political parties to remove pamphlets, banners, posters and other publicity materials they had used during their campaigns,” said Hari Bahadur Kunwar, chief at the Environment Division of the KMC. The KMC published a notice asking parties to clean up the publicity materials in a few national dailies on Saturday.
Asan, Indra Chowk, Ratnapark, Thamel, Bagbazaar, Maitidevi, Balaju, inner parts of Naya Baneshwor and Purano Baneshwor and Samakhusi among other parts of Kathmandu are littered with party’s publicity materials.
“We have also requested the Election Commission to remove their election publicity and awareness related materials from the metropolis,” said Kunwar.
When asked, Bibeksheel Sajha Party Spokesperson Ramesh Poudel said, his party will start removing the clutter in all 32 wards of the KMC from Sunday.
“We have been doing this since the formation of our party,” said Poudel.
Before its merger with Sajha Party, it was earlier known as Bibeksheel Nepali. It had even cleaned the litter left by the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) at Bhrikutimandap during the RPP’s general convention in February.
NC leader Nabindra Raj Joshi said his party would launch a clean-up campaign soon. Joshi lost his federal parliament election from Constituency-8 to UML’s Jeevan Ram Shrestha.
