Kathmandu

Dec 24, 2017-

President Bidya Devi Bhandari has underscored the need for consensus and collaboration among political parties to form the National Assembly.

During a meeting with Chairman and Co-Chairman of the Federal Socialist Forum Nepal, Upendra Yadav, and Rajendra Shrestha at the President's office Sheetal Niwas on Sunday, President Bhandari urged the political parties to forge consensus for National Assembly election in accordance with constitution and law.

“There is no alternative for the parties to come together for National Assembly election,” said Madhav Sharma, Communication Expert at the President's Office, quoting the president.

The Nepali Congress and left alliance parties--CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Center)--are at loggerheads over the National Assembly Election ordinance.

Earlier on Friday, President Bhandari had held discussion with top leaders of Nepali Congress including Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba regarding the ordinance on Upper House election.
