Dhorpatan inks Rs 3.3m deal for Double League

As per the three-year deal, Dhorpatan will get Rs 1.1 million annually to conduct the tournament. Dhorpatan President Manbir Chhantyal and Gorkha Brewery marketing manager Indra Regmi signed the memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Tuesday. IME Automotives Pvt Ltd is the title sponsor of the tournament and will provide five scooters as rewards in the tournament.
In all 12 teams—Nepal Police Club, Nepal Armed Police Force Club, Tribhuvan Army Club, New Diamond Academy, New Diamond Sports Club, Tops Higher Secondary School (Pokhara), Eastern Regional Volleyball Association, Paramount High School, Springdale Scholl, Shree Gaun Sports Development Committee (Dang), Meghauli Sports Foundation (Chitwan) and Three Star Academy—will compete in the tournament. Defending champions Reed Model College is absent from the event.
As per the tournament regulation, a team will be eligible to field upto three foreign players in a game. Either seven or eight top place finishers after the single round robin league will qualify for the next round of league.
The team earning highest point after the completion of second round league will be crowned the champions. Teams qualifying for the second round are entitled to earn cash rewards. The champions will receive Rs Rs 325,000 and the runners-up will get Rs 170,000.
Besides cash prizes, five individual performers will also be rewarded with a scooter each. The best player, rising player, player of the year and player of the series will each get Um Powermax Scooter, informed Chhantyal. The best lifter, spiker, blocker, quicker, defender, server and the best coach each will be given Rs 5,000 apiece. One spectator in the final will also get a scooter from a lucky draw.
Nepal Volleyball Association president Manoranjan Raman Sharma presented nets and balls to Chantyal during the programme.
