Because of her disability, she has not been able to pursue formal education, and has remained bedridden for the past 12 years. But Samita, using only the index finger of her left hand, has managed to write a 42-page novella, titled Naya Soch. The novella points out that agricultural reform can create more jobs in the country, which can check the ongoing youth drain.
Launching the book amid the function at Banepa-4, Dr Chintamani Yogi said that physical disability does not translate to inability and emphasised that Shrestha is a source of inspiration for all. Also speaking at the event, Nirmala Shrestha, Samita’s aunt, echoed Dr Yogi’s sentiment and added that the book will be an interesting read, given the fact that Samita has largely been divorced from the world around her.
Naya Soch is published by Shabda Yatra publications.
