The ministers are preparing to submit their resignation letter to Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba later today.
PM Sher Bahadur Deuba had relieved 17 ministers from their ministerial responsibilities on October 17 after it formed an alliance with CPN-UML. The ministers had not resigned even after being stripped of portfolios saying it would send negative message to quit the government at a time when the country was preparing for elections.
"We continued to remain in the government fearing our resignation could have put the elections in uncertainity. Now when the elections are over and the date for National Assembly election has been fixed, we decided to quit the government," said Minister without portfolio Mahendra Bahadur Shahi.
The party had come under criticisms for demanding PM's resignation without recalling its ministers from the government. CPN-UML had also put pressure on the party to recall its ministers. The party had 17 ministers under leader Krishna Bahadur Mahara in the government.
