Police Constable Kul Bahadur Khatri and Radio Gandako Station Manager Ghanashyam Pandey were injured in the explosion. They were admitted to Gandaki Medical College.
Police said Pandey had gone too close to the IED to take pictures when the blast occurred. He suffered shrapnel injuries in his head and throat.
IEDs were also recovered at Nagdhunga, Shanti Stupa and near the residence of Province Governor on the same day.
Nepal Army (NA) bomb disposal unit were called to defuse the explosives.
Police suspect that the IEDs could have been planted by the Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal.
The party had announced a countrywide shutdown on Tuesday to protest the arrests of its leaders and cadres in Sunsari and Morang a few days earlier.
In Baglung, bomb hoaxes caused public panic at many places on Tuesday. Several suspicious objects were recovered by security personnel while an IED plated at Traffic Chowk was defused by an NA bomb disposal team.
An IED was also found along the Gangate-Dhikure-Machapokhari road section in Bidur Municipality, Nuwakot. It was deactivated by the NA soldiers.
Troopers defuse bomb at Purano Bus Park
Baglung: Nepal Army bomb disposal squad has defused a devise planted at Purano Bus Park of Baglung Municipality-2 on Monday night.
An unidentified group had planted the bomb in front of a business firm of local resident Umesh KC. The local residents informed the police after seeing a suspicious object there.
District Police Office Spokesperson Bishworaj Singh Thapa said police are investigating the case and tracing the group responsible for the terror act.
In another incident, a bomb exploded at Dhawalagiri Chowk of Baglung Municipality-2 last night. RSS report says it suspects cadres of the Netra Bikram Chand led CPN Maoist may have exploded the bomb. The Chand-led CPN Maoist has enforced a strike across the nation today. The call for strike affected routine life in Dhawalagiri including Baglung district since early morning today. Vehicles were off the roads while the markets remained closed because of to the strike. (RSS)
