The government has also pledged to bear the medical expenses of the victim.
Radha Chaudhary, 18, of Ghodaghodi Municipality-5 of Kailali, was tortured for over six hours by a group led by Ram Bahadur Chaudhary, a self-professed shaman, on March 8.
Police at Sukhand Area Police Office had not pressed any charge against the main suspect, Ram Bahadur, and released him by allegedly coercing the victim and her family to settle the case.
Police Sub-inspector Dinesh Bista of the Area Police Office had said that the mayor of Ghodaghodi Municipality, Mamata Prasad Chaudhary, and the ward chairman of the municipality, Prem Rokaya, were present at the police station for the case settlement.
Province 7 Chief Minister Trilochan Bhatta visited Radha at the Seti Zonal Hospital on Sunday and assured her that the persons who tortured her will be brought to justice.
The residents of Sukhand Bazaar took out a protest on Sunday demanding strong action against the guilty. They also submitted a memorandum of their demand to chief minister and chief district officer.
