A police team deployed from the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police nabbed them for allegedly demanding Rs 20 million from the businesspersons posing themselves as the cadres of Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal.
According to the CIB, the suspects have been identified as Chet Bahadur Gurung, 40, of Ajirkot Rural Municipality-4, of Gorkha, Som Bahadur Gurung, 28, of Sulikot Rural Municipality-4, Bir Bahadur Gurung, 38, of Siranchok Rural Municipality-8, and Sunil Dhakal, of Sulikot-4.
Chet Bahadur is aligned with Tarun Dal, the youth organisation of Nepal Congress.
Claiming themselves as the cadres of Communist Party of Nepal, the arrestees had demanded Rs 20 million from real state entrepreneur Hari Prasad Sapkota, of Sulikot Rural Municipaliuty-8, currently residing at Khusibu, Nayabazaar, KMC-16, and other entrepreneurs through phone. They had also issued death threats to businessmen if they did not provide them money, police said.
DSP Jeevn Kumar Shrestha said an investigation has been launched by keep them in custody.
