A press statement issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Tuesday said the government will proceed as per the legal provisions granted by the constitution to scrap the registration of transportation committees that disregard the government direction.
“We will scrap the registration of the transport companies that goes against the directives of the Associations Registration Act, 2034 and will take necessary action on the grounds of legal provisions provided by Essential Services Operation Act, 2014 if transport entrepreneurs go ahead with their strike programmes,” read the statement.
A group of 11 committees of public vehicle entrepreneurs on the Araniko Highway had decided to not allow other public buses to ply the road unless the Department of Transport Management revoked the route permit issued to Mayur Yatayat on the first week of April.
Following their protest over the route permit, aimed at nurturing syndicate in public transport, the department decided to throw the protesting companies out of the route and issue new permits to other interested firms.
After the government decided to act tough on the transport syndicate involved in disrupting passenger service, protesting committees had backed off from their announcement to block vehicular movement.
