Translation of Maile Dekheko Durbar hits shelves
Maile Dekheko Durbar, a 2010 book by Vivek Kumar Shah, who served as the military secretary to the former king, has been translated into English; the English version of the book was released on Monday. “The book takes us deep into the intrigues at the Narayanhiti Royal Palace and provides an inside-view into the momentous events of our times: the Royal Palace Massacre, King Gyanendra’s wresting of all executive powers, the Maoists’ armed rebellion and its genesis and the forces backing it, the Comprehensive Peace Agreement between Nepal’s mainstream political parties and the Maoists, the end of monarchy, and the arrival of republicanism in Nepal,” reads a press note issued by the publishers, Fineprint.
Speaking about the new translation, author Shah said, “The book is a living history. It will give certain insights into the recent history of Nepal.”
