The International Buddhist Conference has kicked off in Lumbini from Saturday.
Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Rabindra Adhikari inaugurated the two-day conference.
Representatives from 24 nations, including reputed archaeologists, historians, Buddhist gurus and scholars, have participated in the conference.
Previous conferences were held in Kathmandu. This is the first conference to be held in Lumbini.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli was to inaugurate the conference but did not take part at all. Province 5 Chief Minister Shankar Pokharel also did not attended the conference.
The conference will also issue the Lumbini Declaration in its final day on Sunday.
