Addressing the Province 5 Assembly in Butwal on Sunday, he said there would be no compromise on the rule of law. “Incidents like bribery and intimidation will be promptly dealt with,” he said, hinting at the ongoing crackdown on transport cartels.
For the country to take the path of prosperity, PM Oli said it was crucial to root out corruption and establish good governance and civil conduct at all levels of government.
“The three tiers of government should now strive for development by effectively waging a war against corruption, the culture of commission payments and cartelisation,” the prime minister said.
Oli for wider airspace for Nepal
PM KP Oli on Sunday said he had raised the issue of Nepal being locked by India not only around land but also in the air, during his recent visit to New Delhi.
Addressing the Province 5 Assembly in Butwal on Sunday, Oli said the country was facing a scarcity of air routes as there is a single entry point from India which faces severe congestion. “I asked India, ‘why only a single air route? It’s putting our country in a difficulty,’” said Oli. “Necessary talks are taking place on the matter.”
The new international airport in Bhairahawa will get inbound routes—directly from New Delhi—before operation. “We’ll take India into confidence to clear the new routes.”
