Nepal Health Workers’ Union Central Working Committee has issued a 13-point Kathmandu declaration which incorporates the demand for smooth supply of medicines.
The two-day meeting of the committee concluded in the Capital recently recommending the government to immediately make appointments on vacant quotas in rural and remote districts, improve physical condition of health institutions and its local-level offices, and provide essential medical equipment to health facilities across the country.
Mandatory implementation of the provision related to voluntary retirement scheme announced by the government through the Nepal Gazette, implementation of the constitutional provision about the presence of health ministry in province, allocation of rights of public health to the province and not to adjust health sector employees with the civil service are other demands put forth by the union, according to union president Ujjwal Kumar Sharma.
