Chand-led CPN members attack police, release cadre arrested during banda

Cadres of Communist Party of Nepal led by Netra Bikram Chand on Monday attacked a police team and freed their fellow cadre who was arrested during the Nepal banda called by the party on Sunday.

A group of five CPN cadres led by party district in-charge Ajit Bista allegedly attacked the police squad escorting the arrested CPN district committee member Sagar Shahi of Mudkechula Rural Municipality-9, at around 8 am today while being transferred to Dunai-based District Police Office from the Tripurakot Police Post.

The CPN cadres attacked the vehicle transporting Shahi at Thulibheri Municipality-9 by pelting stones and injuring police head constable Dhan Singh Kathayat and policeman Jaylal Basnet.

Deputy Superintendent of Police, Hari Prasad Sharma informed that District Police Office, Dolpa has deployed 35 police personnel led by a Police Inspector from Jufal, Kalagaunda and Dunai in search of the CPN cadres involved in the incident.

However, the police have made no progress in apprehending the alleged attackers until 5pm today.
