  • Inundation caused by lack of drainage system

Jul 2, 2018-

Various areas in Nawalparasi district have been inundated following incessant rains owing to lack of proper drainage system.

People of West Nawalparasi including Dhanewa of Bardaghat, Janakpur of Sarawal, Pratappur among others have been facing the brunt of the inundation.

Farmlands and animal shelters have been waterlogged though the water levels at the local streams and Narayani River have not breached their banks.

Meanwhile, London Bridge area in Bardaghat along the East-West Highway has also been flooded making it difficult for small vehicles to ply on the road section.

Chief District Officer Devendra Lamichhane said the main cause of inundation is the lack of drainage system to channel the rain water.

“The situation is normal as of now,” said CDO Lamichhane, “However, security personnel and Disaster Management Committee officials are on standby to control any further damage.”
