The body of senior social development officer at Pokhara Metropolitan City Omraj Poudel, who had been missing since June 23, was recovered on the Seti River bank on Saturday.

Poudel’s body was found on the river bank at Bhimad in Tahanun, said police. It was taken to Pokhara for post-mortem. Poudel had disappeared after he left home at around 5am on June 23.

Security personnel were searching him along the river banks suspecting that he could have committed suicide.

Along with two mobile phones, a gold chain and a ring on him, police also recovered a suicide note apparently addressed to his wife.

Shanti Shrestha, a local of Mahendra Pool area, had informed police that Poudel had jumped off the Mahendra Bridge into the Seti river on June 23.

A CCTV footage obtained from a nearby local jewellery shop purportedly showed Poudel reaching up to the Seti river that morning. (PR)
