Addressing th 40th memorial day of Nepal Communist Party (NCP)’s founding leader Pushpalal Shrestha organised at CPN’s secretariat on Monday, PM Oli said the government is ready for any kind of debate for reforms in country’s health sector.
Oli expressed his disappointment with Dr KC’s refusal to hold talks with the team formed by the government. He said many big wars came to an end through talks and dialogue. “There are rules and procedure for holding talks. But it has not happened here. We are still inviting Dr KC for talks,” he said.
PM Oli alleged that political parties including the Nepali Congress (NC) have been politicizing Dr KC’s demands for their vested interests. “Congress and other political parties are fuelling Dr KC’s agitation to fulfil their vested political interests. The fasting doctor has not understood this,” said Dr KC.
Talking about Dr KC’s demands, PM Oli said the government is ready to form a commission according to Dr KC’s demands. He urged Dr KC to chair the commission. “He has put forth demands. But is reluctant to chair the commission,” he added.
PM Oli further accused that Dr KC has been violated his own human rights by abstaining from food.
Dr Govinda KC has been staging hunger strike since June 30 demand reforms in the country’s health profession and medical education. His key demand is that the medical education bill tabled in the parliament by the government should be withdrawn.
