A monitoring team of the department had confiscated the vegetables including cucumber and pumpkin from two vehicles bearing registration number plates (Ba 6 Cha 964) and (Na 4 Cha).
Section officer of the department, Deepak Pokharel, who has been overseeing the selling of vegetables, said the general public and Armed Police Force personnel have been buying the vegetables. The team had initially set the price of cucumber at Rs 50 – 65 per kg, and the price of pumpkin at Rs 40-50. He said the price had to be lowered to Rs 25-35 per kg after the vegetables couldn’t be sold at Kalimati’s price.
“The vegetables couldn’t be sold even after waiting for two /three hours,” said Pokharel. “Then we reduced the price.” He said the cucumber have been sold out. The price of pumpkin has been set at Rs 15-20 per kg as all the pumpkins couldn’t be sold.
