Nepal’s Sandeep Lamichhane wrapped up his Caribbean Premier League (CPL) going wicket-less in his last match as the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots leg spinner bled more than 10 runs an over against Barbados Tridents in Bridgetown on Saturday.

Lamichhane, who will now joint the national team for the ACC Asia Cup Qualifier scheduled for August 29 to September 6 in Malaysia, was hit for 43 runs from four overs. Despite the mediocre performance from the Nepali teen, Patriots went on to win the match by six wickets surviving a world record performance from lanky Pakistani fast bowler Mohammad Irfan.

Electing to field first, Patriots restricted Tridents to 147-6 in 20 overs. The Chris Gayle-led side then survived Twenty20’s most economical spell from Irfan to reach 148-4 in 18.5 overs. Brandon King and Devon Thomas shared 88 runs for the third wicket to put their team in a pole position. King struck five sixes and four boundaries in his 49-ball 60, while Thomas chipped in 32 off 29.

The victory lifted Patriots at the second spot of the table on net run rate after they were tied on six points with Trinbago Knight Riders and Guyana Amazon Warriors. Jamaica Tallawahs are the top of the table with eight points from seven games.

Lamichhane had come into the match with six wickets to his name out of the four matches he had played. But on Sunday, he had sour farewell after he was hit for three sixes and as many boundaries. His third over went for 17 runs, while he also dropped a catch off his own bowling failing to get rid of Sai Hope.

Skipper Jason Holder top scored for Tridents with a 35-ball 54 with four fours and three sixes. Holder and Hope (26) shared 87 runs for the third wicket to take their team close to 150-run mark.
