The Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal organised a mass assembly in the Capital on Saturday.
While Chand did not attend the gathering, citing security reasons, he had sent his deputy Khadga Bahadur Bishwokarma, who accused the ruling Nepal Communist Party of launching a witch-hunt against CPN leaders lest its corrupt practices be exposed.
“This government has imposed an undeclared ban on Communist Party of Nepal, because we are speaking about another political revolution,” Bishwokarma said.
He also accused the government of harbouring the people who raped and murdered 13-year-old Nirmala Pant in Kanchanpur in July.
“We know that Nirmala was raped and murdered by the relatives of those people who are closely associated with this government. If the government is not going to investigate her death, then our party will,” Bishwokarma said.
Another communist leader Gopal Kiranti accused NCP Co-chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal of betraying the very people who supported him during the Maoist revolution.
“Dahal used the achievements of the revolution for his personal gain,” he said.
The gathering was organised to mark the party reorganisation.
