Two women were killed in an elephant attack at Madi in Chitwan district on Wednesday.
Police said 35-year-old Sushila Bhandari and 60-year-old Trishnakali Paudel of Madi Municipality-9 were killed in the tusker’s attack.
Locals said the women were cutting grass in Riukhola area when they were attacked by the tusker.
Bhandari died on the spot while Paudel succumbed to injuries in the course of treatment.
As per a Chitwan National Park (CNP) data, wild elephants killed two other persons in separate incidents at Madi-3 and Rapti-3 in Chitwan within the past one and a half months.
Wild animals from the CNP frequently enter human settlements and attack humans, kill domesticated animals and destroy houses and crops.
