National Assembly meeting postponed for January 28 after NC obstruction
Jan 21, 2019-
The National Assembly meeting has been put off for January 28 after the main opposition Nepali Congress obstructed the meeting for the second time on Monday.
National Assembly Chairman Ganesh Prasad Timilsina announced the postponement of the meeting after the Nepali Congress lawmakers refused to comply with his order to take their seats. The meeting had started at 11 am today.
Timilsina adjourned the meeting for half-an-hour in the beginning following obstruction from the main opposition Nepali Congress.
The Nepali Congress lawmakers obstructed the meeting arguing that the government did not take any decision to operate the two hospitals established in the name of former Prime Minister of Nepali Congress Girij Prasad Koirala and Sushil Koirala of Nepali Congress.
A recent Cabinet meeting had decided to operate nine different hospitals of the country under Hospital Association. The government, however, did not take any decision to operate two hospitals established in the name of former Prime Minister of Nepali Congress.
Amid protest, Nepali Congress lawmaker Sarita Prasain raised the question why the government did not take any decision to operate the two hospitals established in memory of two former Prime Ministers of Nepali Congress.
Saying that the contribution of Girija Prasad Koirala and Sushil Koirala to peace process, transformation of the country into a republic, and promulgation of the new constitution should not be overlooked, she demanded the government give public opinion regarding her demand.
However, State Minister for Health and Population Surendra Kumar Yadav said the government had not taken any decision to scrap the hospitals established in the name of Girija Prasad Koirala and Sushil Koirala.
He said the government had taken decision to operate nine different hospitals under the Hospital Association.
