Nepal Police has set up a unit at its headquarters in Naxal, Kathmandu, to offer fingerprint collection service required for immigration and visa processing in some countries.
Nepali citizens are asked to present their biometric details for visa issuance and renewal in countries like Germany, the United States of America and the United Kingdom.
“We have recently opened this unit to offer free-of-cost and hassle-free fingerprint collection service to the people,” Senior Superintendent of Police Uttam Raj Subedi told the Post.
Nepal Police has also reduced the time period for foreigners to get their characters verified by its various bureaus, such as the Central Investigation Bureau, Crime Investigation Department and Narcotics Control Bureau.
“It used to take more than a week to verify the documents and to collect referral letters from our other bureaus. Now we can offer the service in just five days,” said SSP Subedi.
Earlier, foreign nationals were required to verify their documents by various bureaus of Nepal Police before recording their fingerprints and other details at the Central Police Forensic Science Laboratory in Samakhushi.
