May 16, 2014-
In order to help students who recently attended their SLC and twelfth grade examinations make right choice to shape their future, the Kantipur Media Group and the Higher Secondary Schools’ Association (Hissan) have joined their hands to bring 111 higher secondary schools and colleges under a single roof.
The Kantipur Hissan Edu-Fair 2014, which saw a large participation of students and guardians last year, has become a choice of thousands of students even this year.
Over 75,000 students have visited the education fair in two days. The number of visitors which was 25,000 on Thursday, the inaugural day, doubled to 50,000 on Friday. “We are overwhelmed by the number of visitors,” said Ramesh Silwal, Hissan vice-chairman and the event coordinator. “We are quite hopeful that the number will increase significantly on Saturday as well.” The organisers said the number of visitors may exceed 200,000 during the four-day event.
The fair has provided visitors with an opportunity to directly meet the representatives of the country’s reputed academic institutions. Visitors can also get free career and course counseling beside the opportunity to compare academic institutions based on faculty members, subject choices, infrastructure and academic results.
“The fair has proved beneficial for thousands of students like me as we don’t need to move from college to college gathering information,” said Sudhikshya Dhakal from Bhaktpur. “This has saved our time and money.”
The organisers have also announced that they will provide over 100 scholarships and daily gift-hampers through lucky draws.
