Dahal asks BRB to drop parallel body plans
Jul 7, 2014-
UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Monday asked leader Baburam Bhattarai to stop the process of forming parallel organisations saying that ideological differences could be settled through a special general convention.
In a meeting with Bhattarai at the latter’s residence in Sanepa, Dahal said ideological differences were natural but they should not weaken the party. Dahal went to Bhattarai’s place to discuss the matter as the Bhattarai faction started forming parallel structures. The Maoist chief has intensified talks with Bhattarai and his supporters to seek a solution of the crisis.
The Bhattarai faction decided to form parallel bodies accusing the party establishment of denying it responsibilities. Bhattarai supporters reiterated their position that a special convention should be called soon after the promulgation of the new constitution to settle the ideological row. The faction has also asked Dahal to abide by the party line of peace and constitution.
