Indian aid for Lalitpur, Nuwakot

Indian government has pledged financial assistance of Rs 83.62 million for various projects to be undertaken in Lalitpur and Nuwakot districts.

Two separate memoranda of understanding (MoU) were signed on Tuesday with Nuwakot District Development Committee and Tribhuvan Trishuli Higher Secondary School for construction of school building. Similarly, another MoU was signed with Lalitpur Sub-Metropolitan City Office and the Society for Development of Lalitpur for renovation of sites of historical and cultural importance in the district, said a statement issued by the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu.

The new building being constructed in Nuwakot with Indian aid of Rs 36.32 million will provide better facilities to over 1,100 students. In addition, building construction of Nuwakot Adarsha Multiple Campus is completed with Rs 2.4 million and work is ongoing for five projects at a cost of Rs 86.5 million in the district. India has also provided six ambulances in the district.

In Lalitpur, Indian aid of Rs 36.16 million will be used for the renovation of Kul Devata Aagan Ghar, Lukhusi Pati, Shreebachchha Mahabir Aaju Niwas, Bhinchayya Bahal Digi, Bhindya Lachi Chapa and Nahbahal Tole Sudhar Chhen. India is providing assistance of Rs 11.14 million for the renovation of Ganga Pokhari, Mahayan Boudha Samaj Gumba, and remodelling of Mahayan Boudha Samaj Gumba.

Likewise, three other projects in Lalitpur have been completed with Indian grant assistance of Rs 85.2 million and two projects at a cost of Rs 52.5 million are under way.
